BBH begins Unsigned Prize for Illustration

The agency's new prize, which is open to unsigned illustrators, designers and typographers, offers creative individuals a solo exhibition, mentoring and commercial representation

BBH launched its emerging Unsigned talent program in 2018 with the aim of celebrating emerging creatives and encouraging brands and agencies to look beyond established names when commissioned. For the past two years, the agency has hosted an annual exhibition in its London offices, showing work by 50 artists, photographers, directors and illustrators without commercial representation. Emerging talents are highlighted via his Instagram account @_unsigned__.

Following the success of the program, BBH has launched a new award for unsigned illustrators, designers and typographers. The Unsigned Prize for Illustration offers five creatives the opportunity to present their work in the next Unsigned exhibition, which is scheduled for October this year. A creative artist also receives a solo exhibition at the They Made This print shop, the mentoring of a former unsigned artist to curate and plan his show, and a commercial representation at BBH's in-house illustration agency Black Sheep Artists.

In order to have a chance of winning, creatives must either submit an existing or an original template that corresponds to the theme of "good news". Artists are invited to interpret the topic as they wish, and submissions can be created specifically for the competition or be an existing work that fits the assignment. The order is open to all illustrators, graphic designers and typographers who are not currently represented by an agency for commercial design or illustration.

All entries will be published on the Instagram platform @_unsigned__ with one day for each artist after the submission date on June 28th.
